A MAYFIELD DEPOT

Following an interrogation into the Mayfield Strategic Development Plan which aims to regenerate an area of Manchester's City centre, I realised that in order to do so the city had to displace (evict) many of the areas commercial tenants. From this research and following conversations with some of the people under notice of removal from the area, I developed an idea for regenerating the area with local businesses at the heart of the proposal.

Taking a car brokers yard, a brewery and an events space to create an alternative design inspired by both their production processes and materials.

The resultant design was shortlisted for the AJ's student award for sustainability in 2019. And long listed for the Jonathon Speirs Scholarship. And was awarded an award for design excellence by the West Yorkshire society of Architects

Further explorations into an element of the proposed events space also lead to a successful design competition entry which saw a sculptor of mine housed within Leeds Art Gallery as part of their Natural Encounters exhibition.
